How to use it

  1. Add your photos. JPG files are checked for EXIF data.
  2. Click Remove metadata.
  3. Download the cleaned copies and share those instead.

What is hidden in a photo?

Photos from phones and cameras often carry EXIF data: the date and time, the device model and sometimes the exact GPS position where the picture was taken. Social networks may remove it, but email, chat files and your own website usually do not.

How it works

Your browser redraws the image onto a blank canvas and saves it again. Only the pixels are kept, so all metadata is left behind. The picture is saved again at high quality, so a very small loss is possible for JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Is the location really removed?

Yes. The new file contains only the picture, with no EXIF, GPS or camera fields.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything is processed on your device.

Does it change the picture?

It looks the same. The orientation is applied to the pixels, and JPG files are re-encoded at 95% quality.
