How to convert linear charge density

Linear charge density is electric charge per unit of length, for example along a wire, a rod or a charged filament.

Every linear charge density unit is a fixed multiple of one base unit, the C/m. To convert a value, multiply it by the size of the starting unit and divide by the size of the target unit. For example, to convert nC/m to pC/m, multiply by 1. To go the other way, divide by 1.

The converter above does this for you and shows the exact formula under the result.

Worked examples

10 nC/m = 1 pC/m10 × 1 = 1 pC/m.
25 µC/m = 25 nC/m25 × 1 = 25 nC/m.
5 C/m = 1.5240000 C/ft5 × 0.3048000000 = 1.524000000 C/ft.
50 C/cm = 5,000 C/m50 × 100 = 5,000 C/m.

Frequently asked questions

How many pC/m is 1 nC/m?

One nanocoulomb per meter is 1,000 picocoulombs per meter.

How do I convert nC/m to pC/m?

Multiply the value in nC/m by 1 to get pC/m. For example, 10 nC/m = 1 pC/m.

How many pC/m is 1 nC/m?

1 nC/m = 1 pC/m, and 1 pC/m = 0.001 nC/m.

Does this linear charge density converter work offline?

Yes. After the page has loaded once, all calculations run in your browser, so it keeps working without an internet connection.
