How to convert radiation dose rate

Dose rate is how quickly a radiation dose builds up. Geiger counters and dosimeters usually show µSv/h or mrem/h, and annual limits are quoted in mSv per year.

Every radiation dose rate unit is a fixed multiple of one base unit, the Sv/h. To convert a value, multiply it by the size of the starting unit and divide by the size of the target unit. For example, to convert µSv/h to mrem/h, multiply by 0.1. To go the other way, divide by 0.1.

The converter above does this for you and shows the exact formula under the result.

Worked examples

10 µSv/h = 1.0 mrem/h10 × 0.1 = 1.0 mrem/h.
25 mrem/h = 25 µSv/h25 × 1 = 25 µSv/h.
5 µSv/h = 43.830000 mSv/yr5 × 8.766000000 = 43.83000000 mSv/yr.
50 mSv/yr = 5.7038558 µSv/h50 × 0.1140771161 = 5.703855807 µSv/h.

Frequently asked questions

How many µSv/h is 1 mrem/h?

One millirem per hour is 10 microsieverts per hour.

How many mSv per year is 0.1 µSv/h?

A constant 0.1 µSv/h over a year (8,766 hours) is about 0.877 mSv.

How do I convert µSv/h to mrem/h?

Multiply the value in µSv/h by 0.1 to get mrem/h. For example, 10 µSv/h = 1.0 mrem/h.

How many mrem/h is 1 µSv/h?

1 µSv/h = 0.1 mrem/h, and 1 mrem/h = 1 µSv/h.

Does this radiation dose rate converter work offline?
